Hire terms & conditions

1. The basics

These terms cover every hire from Hunter Chair Hire, operated by Hunter Hire Group Pty Ltd (ABN 14 677 748 391) (“we”, “us”). A binding agreement forms when you accept a quote (including online acceptance with your signature) or pay a deposit - whichever happens first. “You” means the person or business named on the quote.

2. Quotes & pricing

Quotes are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise, and all prices include GST. Hire pricing covers your event on our standard 3-day hire - delivery the day before, collection the day after - unless your quote says otherwise. Delivery is priced by road distance from our Newcastle depot and is shown on your quote.

3. Deposit & payment

A 10% deposit confirms your booking and reserves your items for your date. The balance is due 30 days before your event. If you book within 30 days of your event, the full amount is due at booking. We may release your reserved items if payment isn’t received by the due date after we’ve reached out.

4. Changes & cancellation

Cancellations within 30 days of your event are non-refundable - this includes reducing item quantities, which is treated as a cancellation of the removed items.

If you cancel more than 30 days before your event, we’ll refund everything you’ve paid except the deposit. The deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances, but we’re happy to transfer it to a new date within 12 months, subject to availability. Date changes requested more than 30 days out are free, subject to availability.

5. Delivery, setup & collection

We deliver to the agreed address during the window arranged with you. Please make sure there’s clear, safe access and someone available to receive the goods - if we can’t deliver or collect because access wasn’t as arranged, a redelivery fee may apply. On-site set-out is available as an add-on; otherwise items are delivered stacked to a ground-floor point. For collection, please have everything stacked back where it was delivered.

Our standard delivery and collection hours are 7am-7pm, Monday to Saturday. Sunday delivery or collection adds 30% to your delivery fee, and after-hours delivery or collection (before 7am or after 7pm) also adds 30% - the two stack if both apply. Surcharges are quoted up front, never sprung on you.

6. Looking after the goods

You’re responsible for the goods from delivery until we collect them. Please keep them dry and secure overnight (undercover for lounges), and keep them away from naked flames, candle wax, pens and paint. Normal event wear and light soiling is expected and fine; goods returned needing more than a standard clean may incur a cleaning charge at cost.

7. Loss & damage

Items lost, stolen or damaged beyond fair repair while in your care are charged at replacement cost:

  • $120 per chair or stool
  • $500 per modular lounge piece (a full lounge is four pieces)

Quantities are confirmed at delivery and counted at collection. If something breaks during your event, no drama - just let us know as soon as you can.

8. Weather & outdoor events

Most of our work is outdoors and we plan for it, but the weather is yours to manage on the day - please have a wet-weather plan for your event. Hire fees aren’t refundable because of weather, and goods left exposed to rain or sprinklers may incur cleaning or damage charges under clauses 6 and 7.

9. Ownership & risk

The goods remain the property of Hunter Hire Group Pty Ltd at all times. You may not sublet, sell, or move them to a different address without our agreement. Risk in the goods rests with you from delivery until collection.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent the law allows, our liability for anything arising out of a hire is limited to resupplying the goods or refunding the hire fees paid, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss.
